| Microbiological Testing: Cooling Tower Water |
Bacteria can grow and multiply rapidly in the circulating water of cooling towers under favorable conditions and lack of proper maintenance. Occupants living in a building with bacteria contaminated cooling tower water are susceptible to diseases such as Legionellosis if it contaminated with high concentration of Legionella group of bacteria, particulary Legionella pneumophila. Persons working with or around bacteria contaminated cooling tower are also susceptible to the above mentioned diseases through inhalation of bacteria-contaminated cooling tower water droplets.
Microbiological testing of cooling tower water is an essential tool to control bacteria growth thus preventing outbreak of diseases. Government authorities such as Ministry of Environment Singapore has stipulated maximum concentration limit for Standard Plate Count and Legionella bacteria count allowed in the cooling tower water under the Environmental Public Health (Cooling Towers and Water Fountains) Regulations.
ACL provides expertise and extensive experiences for the site sampling and testing of cooling tower water. Our microbiological laboratory is accredited under ISO/IEC 17025 to conduct microbiological tests on Legionella spp and Heterotrophic / Standard Plate Count.
